Refrigeration: First refrigerator designed for cold-climates which moves itself outdoors to take...

...advantage of the cold air during winter.  The refrigerator requires it to be placed next to an exterior wall of the kitchen (but not a wall it shares with an unheated garage as they are usually warmer than the unsheltered outdoors during winter) and a hole cut into the wall for its installation.  If it is a new house being built, the hole in the exterior wall will be built into the wall during construction.  The refrigerator then monitors the outdoor air temperature and if it is lower than the temperature of the house, it silently slides the refrigerator outdoors by use of a small electrical motor that uses tracks to help it more easily move and in a very specific route.  When the outdoor temperature is too cold for the cooler section of the refrigerator, the refrigerator moves the cooler section more into the home to enable the interior heat to moderate its temperature while leaving the freezer out in the cold.  This will require the refrigerator to have its cooler and freezer sections move independently of each other.  When the outdoor temperature is hotter than the indoor temperature, the refrigerator moves itself fully indoors and closes a panel (which will probably look like a door) to insulate itself from the hotter outdoor temperatures.  [When it is freezing outside, it makes no sense not to take advantage of it to keep your food cool and cold.  This challenge should greatly reduce the electrical consumption of refrigerators for those who live in cold climates.]

Future Challenges:

1) First home supply store chain (e.g., Home Depot, Lowes, Menard's, etc.) to sell the above refrigerator in their stores located in cold climate regions.

2) First home supply store chain to sell more than 100,000 of these cold-climate refrigerators.

3) First TV drama on a cable TV network to feature and make a point of showing a cold-climate refrigerator.

4) First TV drama on a US cable TV network to feature and make a point of showing a cold-climate refrigerator.

5) First TV drama on a broadcast TV network to feature and make a point of showing a cold-climate refrigerator.

6) First TV drama on a US broadcast TV network to feature and make a point of showing a cold-climate refrigerator.

7) First major motion picture (premiering in at least 4,000 theaters) to feature and make a point of showing a cold-climate refrigerator.
