Self-Service: First self-service order taking system at a fast food restaurant that enables a...

...customer to order anything from the menu; enables customers to customize their order by adding and/or subtracting ingredients; and to pay for his order by inserting cash, credit card, or debit card.  [Which will probably greatly increase special orders as people are more willing to be picky when giving an order to a machine than a human.  Due to its “Have it your way” public commitment to its customers, expect Burger King to require this for any self-service order taking system it uses.]

Future Challenges:

1) First one above that enables drive-through customers to use it.

2) First fast food restaurant to no longer use humans to take orders at one of its restaurants.

3) First fast food restaurant chain (10 restaurants or more) to no longer use humans to take orders at any of its restaurants.

4) First major fast food restaurant chain (1,000 restaurants or more) to no longer use humans to take orders at any of its restaurants.
