Preserves: First Boy Scout troop to take over the care and maintenance of a city, county, state, or
national nature preserve. The troop takes over all expenses and ownership of the preserve from the government body that presently owns it and runs it as a free nature preserve. [If the Boy Scout troop does this, receives no government funding, and lets the local public know it is doing it without government assistance, the troop should be able to sell even more popcorn every year, especially to local environmentalists and Tea Party members. The preserve will also become a great source of pride for the troop and will make its members feel like they are really helping society and the planet.
Future Challenges:
1) Take over a city nature preserve.
2) Take over a county nature preserve.
3) Take over a state nature preserve. Can be part of a group of troops to handle a large state nature preserve.
4) Take over a national nature preserve. Can be part of a group of troops to handle a large national nature preserve.
5) Win “Best Nature Preserve of the Year” award from the Sierra Club for a nature preserve managed by a single troop.
6) Win “Best Nature Preserve of the Year” award from the Sierra Club for a nature preserve managed by a group of troops.
7) Be the focus of a reality television show that chronicles their care and management of a city, county, state, or national nature preserve.
