Electric: First kit (for sale to the general public) for electric and plug-in hybrid cars that...

...enables them to be recharged with wireless electricity and to have a home wireless electricity transmitter that starts transmitting when it detects its plug-in hybrid car is within range and stops transmitting when the car is fully charged.

Future Challenges:

1) First factory-made electric or plug-in hybrid car with the ability to be recharged by wireless electricity and which comes with a home wireless electricity transmitter.

2) First major restaurant chain (1,000 restaurants or more) that offers free wireless electricity at all of its restaurant units that have parking lots and/or drive-thru lanes so patrons’ electric cars can be recharged in their parking lots and drive-thru lanes.  [Expect wireless electricity to become the WiFi of the future.  WiFi at cafes was once exotic.  Now it is commonplace, not just at cafes but also at fast food restaurants, public libraries, bookstores, laundromats, campgrounds, hotels, etc.  Wireless electricity will likewise start out exotic but will quickly become commonplace.  However, don’t expect businesses to initially offer wireless electricity to attract electric car owners.  Businesses will first do so to attract owners of electronic devises (cellphones, laptops, iPods, tablet PCs, etc.) that can be recharged and powered by wireless electricity.  See the challenge COMPUTERS: Wireless-electricity Rechargeable Cellphones for more on this future development.]

3) First major hotel chain (1,000 hotels or more) that offers free wireless electricity in all of the parking spots in all of its parking lots at all of its hotel units.

4) First major department store chain (1,000 stores or more) that offers free wireless electricity in all of the parking spots at all of its store units.

5) First major supermarket chain (500 stores or more) that offers free wireless electricity in all of the parking spots at all of its store units.

6) First major chain of shopping malls (30 malls or more) to freely transmit wireless electricity to all cars parked in its parking lots at all of its malls.

7) First auto ferry to freely transmit wireless electricity to all of the vehicles it carries.

8) First US state to install free solar-powered and wind-powered wireless electric transmitters at all of the state’s highway rest areas.

9) First US city of 50,000 people or more to install wireless electricity transmitters in all of the parking spots in all of the city’s paid parking ramps.

10) First US city of 50,000 people or more to make all of its parking meters also operate as coin-operated wireless electricity transmitters.
